Beach towels are necessities for any day at the beach. Notice that I say “beach towels” plural. This is on purpose. This is because it is a good idea to bring more than one beach towel. If you have two beach towels, for instance, you can use one to dry off with and the other one to lie on.

First of all, do not skimp and get small beach towels, The bigger the beach towel, the better. Why? Well, the number one use for a beach towel besides drying off is for lying on. And if you are laying out on the beach, you are certainly going to want a large beach towel.

Sand has a way of creeping up and onto beach towels, no matter how well you lay one out. Therefore, to protect yourself from this creeping sand, get a bigger beach towel. Also, if you have a bigger beach towel, you can keep all of your belongings on it and safer from the sand.

One of the reasons that you want at least two beach towels is because you certainly do not want to have to move all of your stuff off of your beach towel and into the sand when you dry off, and you do not want to get the beach towel that you are lying on wet.

So what can you do with your second beach towel? Well, you can roll up your second beach towel and make a pillow. You can cover yourself with that beach towel when you start to get chilled. Or you can use that beach towel to rig up a tent to shade yourself when it is hot. You just need to piece of driftwood to hold up the middle. You can also use an extra beach towel to cover yourself to protect yourself from the sun.

Extra beach towels can also serve the function of a sarong. Why not cover-up in your beach towel? Beach towels can even serve a great function in your car. You can lay a beach towel across a leather seat to keep it from scalding your bare back. You can also lay a beach towel in your car to put all of your sandy items on – you might as well save yourself a trip to the car wash. Beach towels can also be used to wipe up spills.

These are only a few of the uses for a good beach towel. It is always good to have an extra beach towel on you or in your car, even if you are not headed to the beach!
