Forget
“trend” – when buying a bathing suit the most important
aspect is finding a bathing suit that flatters you, both in style and
color. If you’re lucky enough to have an athletic body type you
will have a well-toned body, but be careful to find a swimsuit that
accents the strong points and down plays those broad shoulders and small
bust.
Go for sweetheart necklines with the "aqua" padding that's
new this season. It promises to give instant, yet natural-looking, cleavage.
Asymmetrical necklines with midriff cutaways look hot while distracting
attention from broad shoulders and a long torso.
Make sure to find swimsuits made from strong enough materials (like
Lyrca) that will give you a lot of support. Look for suits with wide
straps and high necks to narrow broad shoulders. Solid tops with printed
bottoms also work well to draw the eyes to those muscular legs and away
for the shoulders/breast area. This will also help to give the upper
and lower body better proportion.
When you’re out in the sun remember to protect you eyes, hair,
and skin.
For hair wear a hat when possible. Switch to a hydrating shampoo and
conditioner and always rinse hair well after swimming.
Your eyes need protection from the sun too! Wear big sunglasses, hats
and/or contacts with UV protection.
For your skin always wear sunscreen all over at the beach or pool.
When going out and about in the sun, shopping or dining protect your
face with a light sunscreen. Some make up has sunscreen, better to find
a light sunscreen and apply before putting on make up.
Common sense should rule in the summer if you feel your skin begin
to get excessively hot or burn cover up or go indoors. Tomorrow is always
there to get some more fun in the sun. Drink ample amounts of water
– you can never drink too much water in the summer months. 6-8
glasses is recommended year round, in the summer carry a bottle of water
wherever you go!
