When it comes to tanning we all know that the ultra violet rays tan the skin but also dries the skin and dehydrates it! There are so many variables when it comes to choosing a suntan oil or suntan lotion. How do you know which is best and which will give you the results you want? Here are a few facts about each:Suntan lotionSunscreen or sunblock is a lotion that is applied to reduce skin damage by blocking ultraviolet radiation from the sun. The best sunscreens block both UV-A and UV-B rays, both of which can cause sunburn. Most sunscreens work by containing either an organic chemical compounds that absorbs ultraviolet light (such as oxybenzone) or an opaque materials that reflects light (such as zinc oxide), or both. Suntan OilsSuntan oils have two advantages; they are water-resistant and have
very good moisturizing properties. This is because they prevent the
loss of water through the skin as they form an occlusive layer on the
skin. Most oils consist of mineral oil together with some other moisturizing
oils. Some suntan oils contain all kinds of exotic oils from tropical
fruits and plants like Avocado oil, Jojoba oil and Coconut oil, but
also oils like Mink oil and others. Although some of these oils are
very good for the skin, they are also very expensive and therefore only
present in very small, hardly effective, amounts. Have fun this summer but be smart about being in the sun. When you’re through tanning put on a big hat or go inside! This week's top selling items: |
