Others are written up for spending too much time at their residences while on duty. And then there's the Martin County deputy. He's been fired for using the zoom lens on the video camera in his patrol car to spy on bikini-clad females at public beaches, including zooming in on one who was rinsing off under a shower. Martin County deputy Jack Munsey, 36, was fired following a sheriff's office investigation for using the video camera for unofficial purposes, improper conduct and spending his time on duty engaging in "off duty activities". The video camera is mounted on the dashboard of the patrol vehicle and supposed to be used to film field sobriety tests of suspected drunk drivers. According to the investigator's report, it was concluded that Munsey "intentionally manipulated (his) camera as to capture an inappropriate view" of a woman after a wind gust lifted up her skirt and revealed part of her buttocks. The tape in Munsey's camera also showed a close-up of the breasts of a bikini clad female motorcyclist as she adjusted her bikini top during a traffic stop. Munsey, a 10-year veteran of the sheriff's department, has requested
an administrative hearing to challenge his firing. His record shows
two previous disciplinary action, one for driving his patrol car into
a canal. The other from 1997 was for using his department computer
to view unauthorized websites. 2-09-06 http://www.northcountrygazette.org/articles/020906TapingWomen.html Return to News Center |
