swimsuits that fix flaws
It's summertime and though the livin' might be easy, finding the perfect
swimsuit often is not! Because we've all shifted into this seasonal
panic-mode at some point, Redbook decided to take action. Staffers from
the Redbook team tried on hundreds of suits and came up with three flaw-fixing
options for every body type. (Just think of all the time -- not to mention
the hopping up and down in a tiny fitting room! -- you'll be saving
yourself.)
Wide Waist
Solution 1 Belt it Even in white, belts or horizontal stripes around
your midriff cinch the waist and make it appear smaller.
Solution 2 Keep it simple Stay away from busy prints. Classic styles
and solid fabrics are the most slimming.
Solution 3 Streamline your sides When you're thick through the middle,
geometric detailing slims you down.
Small Breasts
Solution 1 Boost your bust Padded, close-together cups enhance and lift
a small chest.
Solution 2 Pick catchy prints Prints, patterns and strategically placed
seams can create the illusion of curves.
Solution 3 Pull yourself up Can't do padding and underwire? Seek out
short straps -- they'll pull you up and fill you out.
Bottom-Heavy
Solution 1 Skirt the issue Don't think of a skirted suit as matronly
(a lot of our road testers were wary). Today's styles are fashionable
and flattering.
Solution 2 Draw eyes up To look longer and leaner, go for vertical
detailing on top.
Solution 3 Straighten things out Straight necklines help to visually
broaden shoulders and balance out your proportions.Large Breasts Solution
1 Cover up Concerned about cleavage? Opt for high, straight bustlines,
which conceal while still providing a pretty silhouette.
Solution 2 Be strap happy Tops with wide straps cover side bulges and
offer super support.
Solution 3 Do a two-piece Don't discount two-piece suits. Many tankinis
and sporty bikinis flatter curves and have lots of lift
Ample All Over Solution 1 Show a little skin Revealing styles are not
necessarily a no-no. Pick sheer insets or cutouts that offer just a
sexy peek of skin.
Solution 2 Create an illusion Light colors down the sides give the
impression of a slimmer body.
Solution 3 Get a leg up A higher-cut leg optically elongates thighs.
