Santa Cruz, CA(PRWEB) April 8, 2007 -- Standing in a sea of bikinis
designed to best fit an ultra-thin model, the search for the perfect
swimsuit can be daunting when you're not a celebrity size 2. Girls4Sport,
a surf and swimwear designer based in Santa Cruz, California, offers
women flattering alternatives with tankini separates that offer the
coverage options of a one-piece but with hip, surf-inspired prints and
the mix-and-match versatility of a two piece. Girls4Sport line is designed
for real women by real women for real wear. In addition to flattering
cuts, the Girls4Sport line features fabrics with UPF 50+ ratings to
provide maximum protection from the sun's harmful rays. The new 2007
summer collection will be available in stores and online beginning this
week.
Girls4Sport president, Kim Ruby, is a 43-year-old mom, surfer, and
business entrepreneur who is not a size 2. "We know the misery
of having to stand under the florescent lights in a dressing room and
try on suits that can only look good on a mannequin." said Ruby.
"We're not into narrow bikini strings that cut into women's hips
or have a tendency to slip in the water. We design our products for
real women and for real wear."
The Girls4Sport line includes halter, sports tank, sleeveless, short
sleeve and long sleeve tankini tops which can be paired with coordinating
bikini bottoms, boy briefs, hipster bottoms, and board shorts.
The Girls4Sport bikini bottoms feature wide, flat waistbands that provide
extra staying power and create a flattering fit (as in no bulge). They
have a slightly low rise and moderate coverage in the back. The hipster
bottoms are designed with a lower rise but greater coverage and have
drawstring tie to hold them in place. The boy briefs have a low rise,
wide waistband, good coverage, and feature wedgie-preventing seams.
The board shorts are made of soft, durable sueded polyester microfiber
and come in reversible and snag-free styles.
The tankini tops, like the bottoms, were designed with real women's
bodies in mind, for the athletic as well as the not-so-athletic. They
feature built-in shelf bras for added support and are designed with
extra length in the torso to keep them from riding up. With the soft,
UPF 50+ rated fabrics, women can take advantage of the various cuts
for different levels of sun protection. The sleeveless cut provides
great protection for women's backs and chests, while the short sleeve
and long sleeve styles provide additional protection for women's arms
and shoulders.
The summer 2007 collection features swirling color prints with names
like Koochi Pucci and Liquid Blue, vintage surf prints like Hawaiian
Paradise and Surf Ride, and a variety of solid-color combinations. Sizes
range from XS to XXL (women's sizes 0-20).
