A string bikini leaves so little to the imagination it might as well be lingerie. You can buy a bottom separate from the top. Each piece is made up of one continuous piece of material no wider than an inch.
A string bikini bottom barely covers the pubic area. In the back a slim piece of material goes around the waist and down the bottom like a g-string. Most American beaches-with the exception of nudist beaches-will not allow such a risqué bottom.
The string bikini top also exposes much of the female body. Designers often leave the nipple area exposed. In fact, some string bikinis even are designed to call attention to this erotic and taboo body part.
